The Hermes Scrapbook

2001 Highlights

This year brought some joy to us as well as the pain that all of America is still feeling. We are sharing some photos of an earlier trip to Washington and Vancouver to meet friends and relatives, old and new. Closer to home, we were proud to travel to Duluth for our son Joe's graduation! Peace, love, and a safe holiday season from our family to yours.

St. Anne's Academy is where my mom went to school. Mom used to tell us that this all girls Catholic school taught you to, "read, spell and learn your arithmetic" - and she did learn it well.

Nancy and John at a site in Portland

The Empress Hotel, the place to stay in Victoria. My mom grew up in Victoria and we spent some time there in June 2001. What an elegant hotel.

Jim and Nancy having "High Tea" at the Empress Hotel. Tea and fine china are part of the program here - not cheap, but worth it! A good experience and great memories of my mom.

My cousin Jack O'Hagan and his mom at their apartment in Vancouver. I had never met my cousin Jack before so this was a great two-day visit.

My Aunt Julia O'Hagan on her 100th birthday. Nancy and I visited her June 12th, 2001 on her birthday. Pretty sharp for 100. Reads the paper everyday and still gets around on her own. She lives in Vancouver, what a beautiful city!

Son John with boyhood friend Mark L'Allier at an ocean front condo where we stayed for two days. What a beautiful place in Oregon. New Port on the ocean where the winds off of the ocean were so strong the boys flew kites both days.

The Hermes Family: Joe, John, Nancy, our daughter Sarah, and Ron Bye, their two boys - Jack and Alexander, Jim, and Wade. Taken at our home in Scandia Summer of 2001.

Alexander and Jack, who now live in River Falls Wisconsin. Packer Backers now so we have to be tactful when the Packers and the Vikings meet!

My cousin Bill Hermes and his wife Angie who live in Olympia Washington. We were on Puget Sound digging for clams and oysters. Bill is a retired Game Warden so he knows the ropes.

At a resort on the Pacific Ocean in Oregon. The Cafe reminded me of my mom Eleanor Hermes.
John Hermes, Nancy, and John L'Allier.

Uncle Wade with two guys whom love him - Jack and Alex.

Graduation day for Joe Hermes. Joe completed his college degree at UMD (University of Minnesota-Duluth)

Alex feeds the gulls at Canal Park in Duluth. Ships of the world enter at this harbor. A beautiful place to visit. If you have never been there, Jim and Nancy recommend it.
