The Hermes
Scrapbook
My brother Davis lives in Palm Desert, CA and our old neighbors Joe and Sharon
Myers recently moved to Tucson, Arizona. Sharon had Been working for Edina Realty
in White Bear Lake, MN and Joe is a Recent retiree of 3M Co. in St. Paul. They
are both now working in real estate and are adjusting to Tucson very well. What
a lovely spot they have. My brother David is mostly retired and lives the good
life in Palm Desert, CA

We flew to Las Vegas and rented a car and were on way to CA. The first two
pictures are a Baker Calif. We have International Falls for the coldest spot
in the USA and they have Baker CA, gate way To Death Valley, one of the hottest
spots in the country. The thermometer Goes to past 130 degrees. 78 the day we
were there.

We found this cute 1950s restaurant in Baker so we stopped to have an Afternoon
break sitting at the old fashion bar stools. All the waitresses Dressed in the
50s clothing. Good memories here.
Our 1st stop was at the Palm Desert Marriott. Great place to park for 5 days
while visiting my brother Dave. His daughter Teresa lives in Pale Desert with
her son, Dominick.

This is Teresa and her son, Dominick, in downtown Palm Desert. Teresa sells
For the Marriott Corp. and is very good at what she does. I guess the Hermes'
are all peddlers.

At the table eating, isn't this the best way to visit. David and his friend,
Shelly, who lives about 5 houses away from David in a very nice mobile home
park with mountain views everywhere. Yes, it is a nice life. Tereas and Dominick
behind us.
From Palm Desert we traveled to Tucson to visit our friends Joe and Sharon
Myers. This picture of Joe and Nancy is from the day we went to Nogales and
the historic town of Tubac on the American side. Joe was a great tour guide
that day. Did you know he is a future author and we will let you know when he
has a signing party? If you talk to him ask him about his book.
The home that Joe and Sharon built in the Oral Valley about 10 miles from
downtown Tucson. A real retreat, very quiet, as peaceful of any place I ever
been. Joe and Sharon you are very fortunate.
Back yard of Myers' home and pool area. You can see Sharon's years of working
and selling fine homes. She and Joe put together a real masterpiece.
View from back of home and pool area. It looks out over 9,000-foot Mount Lemon.
You can go from hot day to 30 to 40 degrees cooler in an hour or less. By the
way a great Jeep ride down the back side.
How about this fine couple in Historic Tombstone Arizona Cowboy town? Many actors
dressed up to play the part. Some real ones also yes lots of guns. It's a way
of life there.
On the way back to Nevada we stopped at Sedona to see the beautiful red rocks.
A beautiful place.
The El-Toro hotel at the Grand Canyon. Built by the Santa Fe Railroad. A great
place to have lunch and that we did.
Went to Flagstaff to view the magnificent Grand Canyon. A picture doesn't really
tell the story here.

On last leg of the journey we traveled on Historic Route 66. Get your kicks
on Route 66. We were between Flagstaff and Kingman Arizona. It did wet my appetite
for more travel on route 66. They had the 75th anniversary in 2001. Built in
1926 and in went from Santa Monica Blvd. to Chicago Ill. Nancy and I had to
have our pictures taken by the historic signs the line the highway.

These last three pictures were taken Seligman, Arizona and if you ever get in
the area it is a must to see. It about 50 miles west of Flagstaff. It's where
the history and vision of an historic route 66 all started.

Burma shave signs still dot the highway.
If you are an old car buff then for sure you must drive route 66.
